Simple tips on how to manage those eye bags

MANAGING YOUR EYE BAGS

Eye bags or dark circles under the eyes as it is sometimes called, are mild swelling or puffiness under the eyes. They are common as you age, the can be inherited, sometimes as a result of stress, crying, allergies, eating salty foods, lack of sleep or wrong sleeping positions, dehydration. As you age, the tissue supporting the eyes and the eyelids weaken. The normal fat that is usually around the eyes migrates to the under-eye thereby accumulating fluid and making the under-eye appear puffy or swollen. Eye bags can be treated medically, surgically and can also be handled from home.
However, home remedies will help you when in a hurry to step out. Here are some remedies to help you manage those eye bags when they show up;

1.      Manage Your Allergies

Remember we say eye bags can be as a result of allergies. These allergies may include; drug, food or environmental allergies. These allergies cause watery and puffy eyes. You can use over the counter drugs to quickly remedy those allergies so they don’t result in eye bags. You can also use natural remedies in essential oils such as honey, tea tree oil, jojoba oil, to remedy these allergies.

2.      Reduce Your Salt Intake

Sodium in fluid can cause fluid retent-ion and lead to eye bags, when in excess. The sodium will attract water to gather in the eye thereby causing puffiness.

3.      Cold Water Splash

Most times, the eye bags are not serious that just a splash of cold water on the face will narrow the blood vessels and cause the water under the eye to circulate thereby reducing the bags.

4.      Iced Tea Bags

Teas contain anti-inflammatory properties that will automatically reduce the eye bags and make the eye feel and look relaxed. Deep tea bags (as much as you like) in iced water, bring them out and squeeze the water content, then place the tea bags on both eyes and allow them to absorb the warmth of your skin. Take the tea bag down and repeat again.

5.      Chilled Cucumber Slices

Make round cucumber slices and put in the fridge to chill. Take two out and place them on your eyes until they are warm. Take them down and repeat again. Cucumbers have properties that help to narrow down blood vessels thereby reducing the size of the eye bags.

6.      Sleep

Proper amount of sleep and right sleeping position can also help to prevent eye bags. An average adult should get at least 7 – 8 hours of sleep at night. And when you sleep, do not sleep on your stomach because gravity will cause fluid to gather under your eyes. Always sleep on your back or with your sides to allow fluid flow to other parts of your body.

7.      Cold Spoon Compress

Place stainless spoons in the fridge and allow to chill, and then take them out. Lie down and place one cold spoon against each eye. Lie down and allow one cold spoon on each eye. Repeat until you see results. The chills on the spoon will constrict the blood vessels and allow the fluid that gathered around the eyes to circulate leaving the eyes relaxed and rejuvenated.

8.      Drink Lots of Water

When the body is dehydrated, it starts retaining water as a defense thereby exposing the eyes and other parts of the body to swelling.

9.      Massage the Under Eye

Puffiness under the eyes is caused by excessive fluid that gathers around the eyes. But a little massage will cause the fluid to spread leaving the eyes free.

10.  Always Take Down Your Make-up Before Going to Bed

Don’t always be in a haste to go to bed and then with make-up. The eyes can get irritated by wearing that sticky stuff after a long day. Always use mild make-up remover to take down the make-up.

And don’t forget your fruits and vegetables can also help to prevent and relief those eye bags.
